Our Bathroom: The Reveal

It’s been awhile since we’ve shared a house update, but before we tackled the outside projects, we did a semi-remodel of our bathroom. It was my least favorite room in the house, so we decided on a few updates without having to remodel the shower and floor to be more cost effective. Here is the original vision and we’re pretty happy with the results!

Our Bathroom: The Reveal

Since completing this semi-renovation, we’ve sourced a few things and are on the hunt to add some more accents to the walls. However, we’re walking through all the steps, what worked, what didn’t and things we learned along the way! Here is the crazy before + after:

Before + After.png

We started with taking the vanity and old medicine cabinet out and off the wall. We originally were going to paint the vanity, but once we got it off the wall and noticed more damage at the bottom of it, we thought it’d be best to replace it. Since we wanted to add a modern look to the space, we decided on a bold vanity color. We went with Lafayette Green by Benjamin Moore (pretty much the only paint I swear by!).

We kept the wall paint the same as the rest of the house which is Benjamin Moore’s Simply White. We got the vanity from Lowe’s but didn’t use the stock knobs - we sourced those from CB2! We did sand and prime the vanity and ended up needing two coats of paint.

The mirror and light fixture took some time to get just right. Initially, we started with the light fixture below, but after having it up for a couple days, we realized its sizing just didn't look right on the wall, so we opted to return that and find the one we have now which worked out so much better! I also went through two mirrors (yes, two) before we found the right one. I bought this one from Target months ago but when we held it up against the wall with the new lights, we realized a round would suit the vanity space better. I bought a round one from Target, but once I got it home, realized it was just a bit too big for the space. Returned that and finally found the right size from CB2.

We scored the faucet and toilet paper holder from Amazon and the knobs for the vanity from CB2. We didn’t buy new wall plates for the outlet covers, but instead, just spray painted them a matte flat black to match the faucet.

We wanted a small rug at the vanity but it didn’t quite fit the way we wanted so we opted to put it right at the door and found this one on Etsy. There are so many to pick from, but we fell in love with this one and it pulled all the colors together really well!

We’re still looking for the right wall art, but overall, we are really pleased with this semi-remodel! It definitely had to be completed in stages but was so worth it!
